ELM ... Environmental Lubricants, Inc
Our golfing friend, Mr. Gene Tripp, read my book, BREAK FREE, on entrepreneurship and marketing last fall. He invited us to propose some ideas for their products, which are sold nationwide. Their biggest customers are some of the leading railroads, which use ELM's soy-based grease for track curves to eliminate wear and tear.
ELM has had wonderful publicity during this oil-crisis period. Here's a Cedar Rapids Gazette feature showing track crews applying SoyTrak, and Gov. Vilsack applying SoyGrease to an 18-wheeler trailer hitch.View this photo
This year, ELM is making a move into the agribiz and trucking markets with greases. So we coined a brandname for all their producets, SoyLube, and designed new cartons for the retail shelves, click to see: View this photo
This five-year-old company's founder, Dr. Lou Honary, was a UNI professor who led the research efforts to create the product line. He founded the UNI/Ag-Based Industrial Lubricants (ABIL) facility in Waverly, IA and then ELM's facility in nearby Plainfield. Lou is an Iranian immigrant, who grew up selling his father's candy on the streets of Tehran. He's a rare combination: College professor with street smarts; an entrepreneur who can charm a dog off a meat truck to get things done now.
We are honored and flattered to be a part of helping ELM make their way into the future. Stay tuned for updates. Visit ELM's website here: http://www.elmusa.com/index.html
